Staying true to our old mental models, even though they may have led to “relative success” is a kind of bias of the spirit. We embrace and put forth our old but familiar friend–our inner child of the past–into a position of power based on our fears. It becomes our face. We avoid owning our rarely acknowledged but chronically endured pain. We would rather limit our freedom and creative potential that to give up the illusion of predictability in our lives. In exchange we give up our own potential for true greatness. The rapture of  being fully alive is the feeling state experienced by the artist and pros, and is the exclusive by-product of inner freedom.
