Dr. Stephen Anton is an outside expert and will be regularly contributing to our Executive Health blog.

Dr. Anton is an Associate Professor and Chief of Clinical Research within the Department of Aging and Geriatric Research at the University of Florida. His specific research interests are in the role that lifestyle factors have in influencing obesity, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disease conditions. With over 150 published scientific articles in top medical journals, his research has been recognized both nationally as well as internationally. Dr. Anton has also written several book chapters for prestigious academic books including the Handbook of Obesity Treatment: Clinical Applications, the Oxford Textbook of Geriatric Medicine, and most recently Present Knowledge in Nutrition, 11th Edition. In 2018, Dr. Anton co-authored the book, The Man Diet, a science-based guide to optimizing health and vitality for men.

Since completing his doctoral degree in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida (UF), Dr. Anton has received numerous prestigious awards for his research. In 2009, Dr. Anton was selected as an Outstanding Young Alumni by the College of Public Health and Health Professions. Then, in 2010, he was the recipient of the Thomas H. Maren Junior Investigator Award, which is awarded to one Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine each year. In 2013, he became the Vested Chief of the Clinical Research Division within the Department of Aging and Geriatric Research.  During this same year, Dr. Anton was an Invited Member of the University of Florida’s Leadership Academy. In 2014, Dr. Anton was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure. In 2015, Dr. Anton was recognized as a Master Mentor by the University of Florida’s Mentor Academy. In 2017, Dr. Anton was awarded a UF Term Professorship, a distinction given to top professors at the University of Florida.
