Business enrichment programs often tacitly preserve our early mental models while seeking to create real change. These programs tend to focus on information and accompanying exercises that repeatedly fail to create new knowledge in those they seek to develop. If we made a list of the interpersonal variables that create change “information” would be near the bottom and “modeling” would be near the top. Leaders who “get it” automatically model it for others and are already taking advantage of one of the most powerful variables in learning. Those that don’t are better working on themselves than attempting to instruct others on how to gain more access to their power and improve their lives.
