We convince ourselves that we resist embracing our true destiny because other things in our lives take precedence or because we fear that we are not talented enough to be great. In reality, we fear yielding to our inner greatness because it brings to consciousness the life or death struggle that we all must engage in to liberate the genius patiently waiting but slowly dying within us. This is the real war we all face on a daily basis. If joy and rapture and commitment are missing in your life you may be diverting your attention from the real call to arms within you. (From The War of Art by Steven Pressfield)
